The Drum and Dance troup Chapeaux de Guinée was
first formed five years ago in Sweden, where some of
the finest traditional artists from Guinée Conakry have
settled during the last few years. The groups dynamic
and energetic performances have been much appreciated
and they have been touring a lot during 2003. Among the
producers have been Rikskonserter, Selam and
Länsmusiken in Stockholm.
The
troup has several different acts to
offer, from mini-performances with just a few artists
involved to large stage performances with all 15
members participating. The massive rythms of the large
company are breathtaking and the acrobatic dancers are
impressive with their whirling movements.
Chapeaux de
Guinée also stages workshops in dance and drumming, for
kids, youngsters and grown-ups.

stage acts involving fusion between tradition and
